A New Boxing Ring for Forest Fighting Fit: Building a Safer, Stronger Future for Our Community

 

 

 

for opportunity, inclusion, and community strength. Every week, children, young people, and adults from across the Forest of Dean step into our hub to build confidence, resilience, fitness, and friendship. But one essential piece of equipment has reached the end of its life — our boxing ring.

For years, our ring has supported thousands of training hours, youth development sessions, community programmes, and charity events. It has been repaired, reinforced, patched, and adapted more times than we can count. Now, it’s no longer safe or fit for purpose, especially for the young people who rely on it most.

That’s why we’re launching a major fundraising campaign to install a brand‑new, competition‑standard boxing ring at Forest Fighting Fit — a ring that will finally match the ambition, talent, and dedication of the people who train here.

Why a New Boxing Ring Matters

A modern ring isn’t just a piece of equipment. It’s a foundation for:

  • Youth development — giving children and teens a safe, professional space to learn discipline, teamwork, and self‑belief.

  • Community programmes — supporting inclusive sessions for all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

  • Team Ignite progression — enabling our competitive youth team to train safely and confidently.

  • Cancer‑support activity sessions — providing a stable, cushioned environment for gentle movement and confidence‑building.

  • Accessibility improvements — ensuring safer entry, exit, and training conditions for disabled participants.

Our current ring has served us well, but its age and condition now limit what we can safely deliver. A new ring will unlock more programmes, more opportunities, and more impact for the Forest of Dean.
