Warburtons: Supporting Forest Fighting Fit’s Wednesday Night Food Programme

Warburtons is one of the UK’s most recognised and trusted bakery brands — a fifth‑generation family business that has been baking since 1876 and today produces over 2 million bakery products every day across its network of bakeries and depots nationwide.

🥖 Who Warburtons Are

Warburtons began as a small grocery shop in Bolton, Lancashire, run by Thomas and Ellen Warburton. When the grocery trade struggled in 1876, Ellen started baking bread to support the family — her first batch sold out in under an hour. That moment marked the beginning of what would become Britain’s largest bakery business.

Today, Warburtons remains proudly family‑owned and is led by the fifth generation: Jonathan, Ross and Brett Warburton. The company employs nearly 5,000 people and specialises in a wide range of bakery products including bread, rolls, crumpets, pancakes and wholemeal loaves.

🌱 A Long History of Community Support

Community is at the heart of Warburtons’ values. Since their earliest days, they have invested in the neighbourhoods where they work and live. Through the Warburtons Foundation, launched in 2022, they support families across the UK with food education, product donations, community grants and volunteering.

Their community work includes:

  • Donating millions of bakery products each year to food banks, breakfast clubs and local charities.

  • Supporting children and young people through education programmes.

  • Providing grants to grassroots organisations that improve health, wellbeing and resilience.

Warburtons’ commitment to tackling food insecurity is a major part of their mission — ensuring families have access to healthy, affordable staples like bread.

🤝 Warburtons & Forest Fighting Fit

Forest Fighting Fit is proud to be supported by Warburtons, who are generously supplying products for our Wednesday Night Food initiative. Their donations help us provide warm, nutritious food to local families, young people and community members who attend our sessions.

This support strengthens our ability to create a welcoming, inclusive environment — one where people can connect, eat together and feel part of a positive community. Warburtons’ long-standing commitment to helping families aligns perfectly with our mission to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation and make healthy living accessible to everyone across the Forest of Dean.

❤️ A Shared Commitment to Community

Warburtons’ history is built on family, quality and care for local communities. Their support for Forest Fighting Fit continues that tradition — helping us deliver meaningful, practical help to the people who need it most.

We are deeply grateful for their partnership and proud to work alongside a company that has been dedicated to supporting communities for nearly 150 years.
